A kind word from a reader about the quality of presentation in the Catalysis column, authored by Jagdeep Vaishnav and Nishant Patel, appearing for the past few years in the Education Times, Ahmedabad Edition
From: siddhartha parmar <siddhartha.parmar@gmail.com>, Date: Jun 1, 2009 1:39 PM
My name is Siddhartha and I am preparing for CAT-2009. For obvious reasons, I find your article more magnetic than any 'cabinet-ministry-swearing-in' or 'residue LTTE rebels slipping into TN' kind of news, and hence for the first time, felt like mailing my responses to the more purposeful author. ……Well lets say CATalysis is really on to something here, with the column being the only of its kind, spreading knowledge among the aspiring youth and giving a weekly dose of CAT-level questions. I thank Jagdeep Vaishnav and Education Times for this initiative……Apologies for utter informal e-mailing-manners.
Thank you, Siddhartha |

A university topper from Cochin performs dismally at the CAT without proper guidance but regains hopes after reading Cracking the CAT by Jagdeep Vaishnav
From: "nadiya m" <mnadiya2000@yahoo.co.in> Date: Tue, 29 Mar 2005 09:15:52 +0100 (BST)
I am a MBA aspirant. I am using the books written by you – Cracking the Quant, Cracking the Eng Comprehension test, Cracking the of reasoning & DI-.I am greatly impressed by your logical approach to this exam. Last year I had given CAT but as the exam date neared I lost confidence & ended up with a score of just 63 percentile. So I decided to give up my dream of being of being a manager but when I saw your work, I have decided to give a try once again. So I am really thankful to you & I appreciate your approach to this exam |

From: "Subhash Subramanian" <mail2subbu@rediffmail.com> Date: 24 Mar 2005 04:44:57
Dear Prof Vaishnav, First of all, I wish to tell you that your book-Cracking the CAT-is an amazing effort-indeed your approach is unique and intuitively appealing as much as your writing style. After a long search for something like that kind, I discovered it. I am using it as the Bible in preparing students appearing for CAT…. Another admirer of our methodology
From: "arpit ranka" <arpitranka@yahoo.com>
I was discussing with my brother today about his experiences in CAT. He thought it over and said that one of the most or may be the decisive reason of him getting through was CRACKING THE CAT.
The reason he believes that is, it instilled confidence in him when he had to face
Quant section. Moreover his friends were shocked as in matter of few
days he showed so much improvement that they started to make fun of the whole
episode as "What has that book done to you?!?!"
I have always been a fan of your approach as you know
I wanted to thank you again for laying out such a logical way to approach complex problems--be it CAT or real life situation, which we consider as much more important than CAT.
Thanks once again, Regards, Arpit Ranka http://arpitranka.blogspot.com/ |

The candid admission from a world leader
Jagdeep Vaishnav had sent some suggestions for radical changes in the material issued by Princeton Review - America’s largest training institution for management entrance tests that has annual revenue of 1250 million dollars. He had sent a note detailing the shortcomings and what will make up for these. This is the response of the Founder and CEO. He has gone to the extent of admitting that American material is “pretty shallow”.

Dear Mr. Vaishnav, Thanks so much for your note. I admire the way you approach these tests, and agree that PowerPrep is pretty shallow. I've cc'd Andy Lutz, who heads our R&D. Hope you guys can find some interesting way to work together! JSK

Dear Sir,
I don't think you do remember me. My actual name is Sushobhan.
Does the name ring a bell? I gave my CAT in November 2003 and then re-cat in February 2004. I would never have been successful in my endeavor to study in one of the best b-schools (except IIM's) , had it not been for your revolutionary book "Cracking The CAT"
I owe my success in CAT to you…………………………………………..
Take my pranam & convey my regards to your family

A tribute to Catalysis from someone who cracked the CAT in 1983.
From: "Nitin D. Parekh" <nitin.parekh@ashimagroup.com>
I admire the articles written by you on CAT. Though as such I have nothing to do with this exam (having passed the same in 1983!), due to my academic interest I read all your articles and like the way you explain the approach to solve the issue on hand.
As regards Q.66 of CAT 2006….. Note: It is after a longtime that I have once again tried to respond to your questions. Pls let me know whether my answers are correct. Of not, which are the correct choices?
With regards

Congratulation.............
From: "soumya ranjan" <soumya.ranjan@tmf.co.in> Wednesday, August 15, 2007 8:29 PM
Please accept my heartiest congratulation for writing the book “Cracking the CAT” in such a lucid language which completely mesmerizes the reader with your logics. It is indeed a splendid work of yours that keeps on demystifying the myth “one need to be Einstein or William Wordsworth or V. Anand to crack CAT”
